I've heard enough of complains about current version of Find!NZ. People want it back to iOS3. Of course I tried to make it compatible to 3.1.3 before releasing. The reason that I couldn't make it backward compatible was in-app SMS functionality which crashed the app on launching if the iOS version is not iOS4.0 or later.

I am sorry for people who can't install iOS4+ on their device. Find!NZ will be always free and no ads at all.

Yes! As I promised before, this version has a great solution for iPod users. You don't even need internet connection to set your approximate location. Free wireless hotspots in NZ are almost nonexistent.

Manual Location control using Street name finder.
Major speed improvement in searching.
Regions in browse mode changed to search things based on geo coordinates. (no more Mt Wellington in Wellington region!!)
Added more categories

This is great news for iPod users. Now you can manually set your location using street name finder. Again, THIS IS DONE BY OFFLINE. This update includes NZ street GIS database which has 65000+ entries. However, this won't give you the exact location where you are. But still, this is better than iPod location services and this does not require network connection!

1. Set Location control to Street Name

2. Tap this cell to open street finder

3. Type street name where you are.

4. Select your street. Done!

Find! NZ has got some attention from NZ users.

There are good reviews and bad reviews.

The most of bad reviews come from iPod Touch users.

Yes. I know it does not have a proper GPS hardware.

Its location services are based on IP address which requires internet connection.

Also it is not reliable.

Ok. I hear you. I know you guys want better.

I will solve this problem for iPod users on version 1.2 update. Maybe in June.

But for now, I have to finish my Uni degree.

Find! NZ is a New Zealand local business search engine based on location awareness for the iPhone & iPod Touch. An open source database from Zenbu(www.zenbu.co.nz) is integrated into this app, so no network connection is required to search your point of interest.

Features

A standalone app integrated with a database that includes over 68000 entries.
Browse mode: search by predefined 30 categories & 14 region.
Nearest mode: search the nearest points of interest by predefined 30 categories.
Search mode: custom search by any keywords from your keyboard entry.
Make a phone call, open safari and show in Maps application. (if data exists)

Don't worry, here is the solution!! Bring your trustworthy local maps and let your iPhone GPS work.

The iPhone GPS returns coordinates based on WGS84 which is identical to new Geocentric Datum of Australia 94 system. However, old maps based on Australian Geodetic Datum 66 & 84 are still widely used, and these WGS84 coordinates can not be used on old maps unless they are converted into a proper format. The difference between WGS84 and AGD66/84 varies across the country.

Oz Geodesy converts GPS coordinates on the fly. This is very handy for trampers, travelers, emergency people..etc.

That was faster than I expected. However, my legal contract is still in progress.

NZ Geodesy turns your iPhone into a true NZ customized handheld GPS!!!

New Zealand map systems are quite different than the other countries systems. The iPhone GPS returns WGS84 standard coordinates which are meaningless on New Zealand map grid unless they are converted into a proper format.

NZ Geodesy converts GPS information on the fly. This is very handy when you are tramping or traveling in rural area where mobile internet connection is not available.

NZGD1949 and NZGD2000 datum work within New Zealand only. However anyone in the world could use WGS84 and UTM projection.
